Description

Mylius (1927) mapped a dome on the producing Pennsylvanian sandstones in the Siggins Oil Field. Clegg (1959) recontoured the area on the Herrin and Danville Coal Members (Pennsylvanian), which are far more reliable mapping horizons than the discontinuous and questionably correlated sandstones. Clegg's (1959) maps indicate no closure. The Siggins Oil Field is located along the upper limb of the west-facing Charleston Monocline. It is likely that lenticular form of the producing sandstones accounts for the doming noted by Mylius (1927). The name Siggins Dome should not be used.
