Description
Willman and Payne's (1942) subsurface structure maps of the St. Peter Sandstone and Galena Group show a broad, very subtle eastward depression trending northeast from the Sandwich Fault Zone. Even as originally defined, this feature should not be called a syncline. Newer maps (Bristol and Buschbach 1973, Kolata et al. 1978, Kolata et al. 1983) do not indicate a syncline in this area; therefore, the name Oswego Syncline should not be used.
