Description
Easton (1944), using scanty subsurface data on the Levias Limestone Member of the Renault Limestone (uppermost Valmeyeran), mapped a north-trending enclosed anticline about 3 miles (5 km) long and 1 mile (1.6 km) wide. No such anticline appears on the current maps of the Beech Creek ("Barlow") Limestone (ISGS open files) or on Bristol and Howard's (1976) structure map of the Ste. Genevieve Limestone (upper Valmeyeran). The newer maps were made using many control points not available to Easton; therefore, the name Iuka Anticline should no longer be used.
