Description
Bell (1941) applied the name Fosterburg-Staunton Anticline to an east-trending anticlinal nose about 14 miles (22.5 km) long on his map of the Herrin Coal Member (Pennsylvanian). No closure was indicated on Bell's map. Neither an anticline nor an anticlinal nose is indicated on maps of deeper horizons (Bristol and Buschbach 1973, Stevenson et al. 1981). Use of the name Fosterburg-Staunton Anticline should be discontinued because the structure apparently does not exist.
