Call for Papers:

The 57th Forum on the Geology of Industrial Minerals (FGIM) will be hosted by the Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) at the University of Illinois. The Forum will be held virtually via Zoom August 26, 2021 with 30-minute sessions running from 9:00 am to Noon and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm CST

Participation is open to professionals, students, representatives of the mineral industry, government officials (local, state, and federal), and the general public. See Zoom link below to register.

You are invited to submit abstracts related to industrial Minerals, including rare earth elements and other critical minerals, for oral presentations. Presentations will be 20 minutes in length with 10 minutes for Q&A.

In order to reduce potential technical issues during the conference, we will run all talks through our systems. Therefore, please provide a copy of your presentation (PowerPoint or PDF) to the conference chairs listed below by August 25th.

Manuscripts of the oral presentations will be solicited for inclusion in the Forum Proceedings.


Abstracts for all oral presentations must be received by July 1, 2021. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words. Tables and images are permitted if the entire submission does not exceed one page.  Abstracts will be hosted here (FGIM) on the Illinois State Geological Survey website for public viewing.  Please send the title, the list of authors and their affiliations, and email and telephone number for the primary and the presenting author(s) to the conference chairs listed below.  Presentations are due to the conference chairs by August 25th, 2021.
